Visitors who have chosen a
skiing holiday in the Zillertal metropolis will find no less than
159km of piste, most of which have snow making machines, should
there ever be too little snow.
The ski resorts of Zell am
Ziller (Zillertal Arena) and Kaltenbach (Hochzillertal) are very
easy to reach also.

For some years the
Mayrhofen ski slopes
have been connected to the Finkenberg, Rastkogel and Eggalm
slopes.
With 51 lifts, the slopes in the Mayrhofen Skiing Area can be
mastered daily from 08.30 to 16.30 hrs.
Specially recommended circuits from the cable car company promise
various highlights, fun and action; like for example up to 13,000m
difference in altitude in once circuit - with the so called
"Höhenmeterfresser" route.
If that's still not enough, these is also the challenge of
snowboarding.
Because the Mayrhofen Skiing Area offers a fun park - named one of
the best in the German-speaking Alps - with various obstacles and a
120m-long half pipe.
The skiing area on the PENKEN
offers every visitor a varied experience on the piste! From sunny
and treeless summit slopes, wide carver areas and demanding steep
north-facing slopes, powder runs etc. - everything is on offer here.
A particular highlight is a descent on the "Harakiri", Austria's
steepest ski slope. For snow boarders there's Vans Penken Park.
The fastest cable car boarding and shortest waiting times are
offered by the Hobergbahn.
The Ahornbahn, the largest
shuttle cable car in Austria with room for 160 people, takes you up
to the panoramic Ahorn plateau in just six and a half minutes.
The AHORN is a real insider’s tip for
beginners, newcomers and families, who will find ideal conditions on
the gentle slopes around the 2,000m Ahorn plateau. Athletic skiers
are also well catered for by the challenging 5.5 kilometre descent
to Mayrhofen. Those good on their feet can take a sharp intake of
breath on the maintained panoramic footpath and enjoy the
sensational views.
If you have ever been
keen to sit on a
sledge and race down a snowy
hillside or watch your kids in amazement - then we have the right
suggestion for you.
Natural Toboggan Run from Gasthof Wiesenhof
The toboggan run begins at an
altitude of around 1,560 metres at the Gasthof Wiesenhof.
Gerlosstein Toboggan Run (longest natural toboggan run in the
Zillertal)
This toboggan run is located on the Hainzenberg and, with a total
length of 7 km, is the longest floodlit natural toboggan run in the
Zillertal.
Snowshoeing.........No other
activity enables such a close contact with the tranquillity of the
winter mountain landscape. In the woods only a few tracks from deer,
rabbits and foxes break the perfect white snow blanket. No specific
previous knowledge is required, so that non-skiers also get the
opportunity to experience the mountain winters with friends or
colleagues.
Ski & Snowboardtours........Due
to the growing popularity of free riding, more and more boarders and
skiers venture into the back country – for good skiers and boarders
the fun starts where the piste ends.
